The ‘PowerWeb’ is a series of TPU bands pressed onto the base layer which compliment the movement of the muscles. Anchored at key points they are focused on working in unison with the muscle groups and acting like springs. When a football player moves one set of muscles contracts while the opposite set extends, the bands mimic this, stretching on the extension side to store elastic energy.

When the process is reversed and the extended muscles contract, the bands snap back to their shorter length, providing a football player with more power. The claim by adidas is that by wearing Techfit PowerWeb an average of 5.3% will be added to the total body power output, increasing maximum jump height by 4% and 1.1% faster acceleration during sprint times.
